Southport GC Appoints New General Manager
One of Gold Coast’s premier private member’s clubs, The Southport Golf Club, has announced its latest appointment of Nik Robinson as the club’s new general manager.
Bringing extensive experience and knowledge to the venue, Robinson has a background in IT, specialised in marketing and brand development and has dealt with large strategic partnerships, major developments and major international events such as the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
Working with Troon Golf in Abu Dhabi, Robinson has also previously overseen several major properties in the country, achieving accolade recognition for transformation with the global management company.
More recently positioned in Vietnam with leading hospitality brand Vinpearl, Robinson managed two properties in Central & Southern Vietnam, as well as overseeing an integral part of the Vietnam Golf Destination strategy.
Having commenced at the club on Monday this week, Robinson said his focus will very much lay on enhancing the membership experience by bringing in his extensive innovative commercial and communications experience to the property, as well as enhancing the positioning of the prestigious Southport Golf Club brand within Australia.
“What I want to do is bring more of an innovative, dynamic approach as well as new technologies and strategic partnerships to what is a very well established exclusive club,” he said.
“I want to elevate the brand, the positioning, and what Southport Golf Club stands for. I want to embed new technologies new communication, digital platform, but also enhance the social and corporate capacity at the property as well.”
Passionate about golf, Robinson is both a representative of the GB&I amateur team as well an ex-European Tour professional.
Th recruitment was undertaken by Golf Industry Central, Robinson was elected following an extensive recruitment process with many highly qualified professionals from around the country and overseas.
