Suzanne Storrie Appointed to Golf Australia Board

POSTED ON June 25, 2026 @ 8:32 am

Experienced governance and leadership professional Suzanne Storrie has been appointed to the Golf Australia Board.

An AFR 100 Women of Influence recipient, company director, consultant, executive coach, and farmer, Storrie brings over 30 years of experience in strategic transformation, risk management, technology, and operational change across major Australian organizations.

Her term as a Director of Golf Australia begins on June 23, 2026.

Extensive Board and Sport Governance Portfolio

Storrie already serves as a Director of the Australian Golf Foundation, focusing on strategy, leadership, and organizational growth to support participation pathways for young Australians.

She is the current Chair of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, an independent, not-for-profit comprehensive cancer hospital in Sydney. Her previous board positions span the sport, health, education, financial services, and not-for-profit sectors, including roles with:

  • Surf Life Saving Australia (where she co-founded the National Women’s Mentoring Program)
  • The McGrath Foundation
  • Supply Nation
  • Commonwealth Bank Group Superannuation Fund
  • University of Sydney Business School Advisory Board

Alignment with National Strategy

The appointment comes as the Australian golf industry implements its new national strategy, BIG SWINGS 2026–2030: The Next Evolution of Golf in Australia, which focuses on expanding participation and modernizing the game.

Golf Australia Chair Peter Margin stated that Storrie was identified through a targeted search led by the Nominations Committee to address specific capabilities in the Board’s skills matrix.

“Suzanne was identified through a targeted search process led by our Nominations Committee to address specific capabilities identified within the Board skills matrix,” Margin said. “She brings exceptional experience in governance, risk, organisational transformation and leadership, coupled with a proven track record across sport, business and the not-for-profit sector.”

Margin added: “As golf continues to evolve, it is important our Board reflects the skills and perspectives needed to support the long-term success of the game. Suzanne’s experience and strategic insight will be a tremendous asset to Golf Australia and the wider industry. Suzanne’s appointment also reflects our commitment to maintaining a diverse and highly skilled Board, aligned with contemporary governance standards and the Australian Sports Commission’s Sports Governance Principles.”

Grassroots Connection to the Sport

Based at Twin Figs Farm in Curramore on the NSW South Coast, Storrie’s connection to golf began on three homemade holes built on her family farm, where she played with her father and brothers. Today, she plays golf with her adult children and is a member of both Wollongong Golf Club and Jamberoo Golf Club.

Storrie expressed her commitment to expanding access to the sport across the country.

“Golf is in a unique position to positively impact individuals, families and communities at every stage of life, and I am genuinely excited by the opportunities ahead for the sport,” Storrie said.

“Having seen first-hand the positive impact golf can have on health, wellbeing, confidence, connection and inclusion, I am passionate about helping more Australians access and enjoy the game. Golf Australia has an important role in supporting participation growth, strengthening clubs and venues, and creating a sustainable future for the sport. I look forward to contributing to that work alongside my fellow directors, management and industry stakeholders.”

Recruitment Process

The search for the vacant appointed director position was overseen by independent Nominations Committee Chair Lachlan Wark. The recruitment was conducted in accordance with Golf Australia’s Board skills matrix and governance requirements before being recommended to and ratified by the Golf Australia Board.
