NSW Golf Industry Club of the Year finalists announced
Campbelltown, Manly, Long Reef, and Stonecutters Ridge Golf Clubs have been named as finalists in the Metropolitan Club of the Year category of the NSW Golf Industry Awards.
Campbelltown Golf Club, in Sydney’s south-west, has achieved membership growth of 3% and an increase of almost 15% in total rounds played. Revenue is growing, and the club has managed to reduce operating costs by 7%. Campbelltown Golf Club works closely with the local schools in its area.
Campbelltown’s parent club, the Campbelltown Catholic Club, has donated over $1.4 million to the Macarthur community.
Long Reef Golf Club on Sydney’s Northern Beaches has seen significant growth in membership over the last 12 months. The club has returned a healthy profit for the financial year on the back of over 400 functions and almost 54,000 rounds of golf being played.
Long Reef is a significant contributor to the Northern Beaches community including initiatives as diverse as the Sargood Foundation, Home for Heroes, ParaGolfer, and Empower Golf.
Manly Golf Club is continuing its rebuilding plan following the successful completion of its three-year course renovation in 2012. Membership is growing, and the club is successfully focussing on encouraging more women and juniors to join.
Manly Golf Club has been voted as the best club reception venue at the Australian Bridal Industry Awards for four years in a row.
Stonecutters Ridge is one of Sydney’s newest golf clubs. The host venue of the NSW Open from 2014 to 2016, the club prides itself on being more of a community hub for the surrounding area, and on its ‘Everyone is Welcome’ motto.
The club has just installed a children’s playground and dedicates its Thursday night raffles to community groups to help raise much-needed funds.
Stonecutters Ridge is an active participant in Metropolitan Pennant in all of its forms, with over 14 teams entered in Golf NSW inter-club competition.
Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW said the four were terrific examples of what successful clubs can achieve and what vital assets they are to their local communities.
“Healthy clubs help make healthy communities,” Mr Fraser said. “The successful finalists all display a level of commitment to their community and pride in being a representative of our wonderful game.”
The winner of the Metropolitan Club of the Year will be announced at the NSW Golf Industry Awards night on Monday, 22 October, at Curzon Hall, Marsfield.
