Wembley Golf Course Driving Range to Remain Partially Open During Final Phase of Upgrades

The Town of Cambridge has announced that the northern half of the Wembley Golf Course driving range will temporarily close from Monday, 20 April to Friday, 5 June 2026, as the facility enters its final stage of essential rectification and upgrade works.

To minimize disruption for golfers, the southern half of the range—which underwent extensive improvements in 2025—will remain fully operational throughout the construction period.

This upcoming project follows the successful completion of Phase One on 5 September 2025. That initial stage focused on the southern portion of the building, introducing critical structural protections including the replacement and treatment of steel components, upgraded stormwater management for better weather resistance, and the installation of a modern façade system.

Mayor Gary Mack emphasized the Town’s commitment to maintaining the premier facility while balancing the needs of regular patrons.

“Wembley’s driving range is a really popular facility, so we’re pleased we can keep the completed southern half open while we finish the next stage of works,” Mayor Mack said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience, especially during busy periods, as we work to improve the overall experience.”

What Patrons Need to Know:

  • Reduced Capacity: With the northern half closed, there will be fewer bays available. Golfers should anticipate potential wait times during peak periods.
  • Access Changes: The central stairs will be closed. Access to the upper level will be maintained via the southern stairs or the lift.
  • Environment: Patrons may experience intermittent construction noise during work hours.
  • Scope of Works: The 2026 program will mirror Phase One, focusing on steel rectification, cleaning, painting, and completing remaining stair and access upgrades.

The project is part of a long-term strategy to ensure the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of one of Western Australia’s busiest golf complexes.

“These improvements are about protecting the facility for the long term and making sure Wembley Golf Course continues to deliver a high-quality experience for locals and visitors,” Mayor Mack said. “It’s a great example of the Town investing in the places our community uses and values.”
