Links Shell Cove Refurbishments nearing completion

POSTED ON August 31, 2020 @ 7:45 pm

Link shell coveThe $2.7 million upgrade at The Links Shell Cove and The Tavern at Shell Cove are well on their way towards completion.

The Tavern will receive a complete internal refurbishment and a new social and function patron space called ‘The Shed’, as well as a new outdoor entertainment area that includes a built in barbeque and outdoor family play space.

Also included in the upgrade is a dedicated area for Shellharbour golfers, an updated and extended players’ lounge, an updated boutique retail liquor outlet and a refurbished retail space for golf operations.

Capturing the view

Design and construction company, Warrane, delivered the project design and began construction early February 2020. Their work draws upon iconic Australian design elements and has been constructed to capture the view of the lush green golf course and surrounds.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that the project reflected Council’s vision to turn The Links Shell Cove and The Tavern at Shell Cove into a thriving community hub.

“The expansion and refurbishment will help further build on the establishment’s success, as well as provide the community with an enhanced, fresh space to connect, eat and play,” Cr Saliba said.

“Members, visitors and the overall broader community can come along for a game of golf, a delicious meal, or a special event. The upgrade has been highly anticipated by the community and I can’t wait to come for a visit to see it all in action.

“The success of the business creates a revenue source for Council which helps ease pressure on rates and creates funds for projects that benefit the whole city,” Cr Saliba said.

Mini-golf course

A premium 18-hole mini-golf course will also be included in the upgrade and is expected to be completed by January 2021.

The Shed is expected to open on Wednesday 2nd September, pending licensing approval, and occupation certificate. Functions will not be held in The Shed until Covid-19 restrictions are eased.
