$100 Million Homemaker Centre Proposed for Gladstone Golf Club Site
The Gladstone Golf Club site in Queensland is set to be transformed into a $100 million retail precinct under new development plans unveiled by site owner Yaralla Sports Club and developer Tipalea Partners.
A planning application for the project, named the Kin Kora Homemaker Centre, is expected to be lodged with the Gladstone Regional Council in December 2026.
Development Scale and Key Features
Designed by i2C Architects, the proposed centre will feature approximately 25,000 square meters of large-format retail space alongside more than 700 on-grade parking spaces.
Preliminary leasing discussions are currently underway with national brands and local business operators to fill the retail spaces.
Economic and Job Impact
The Kin Kora Homemaker Centre project is projected to generate significant employment for the region, including:
- Construction phase: Approximately 1,200 temporary jobs
- Operational phase: Around 400 ongoing position once open
Tipalea Partners CEO Scott Spanton highlighted that the development aims to address a gap in local retail options across Gladstone and the broader Central Queensland region.

“Gladstone is growing, but the community still has limited choice across a number of major retail categories,” Spanton said. “For us, this is about creating a centre that genuinely works for Gladstone. That’s why we want the community involved early and why we’ll be asking locals what they want to see as the plans continue to develop.” |
Community Consultation and Timeline
Tipalea Partners plans to engage local residents early in the process by hosting community Q&A sessions. Members of the community will be invited to provide feedback on the proposed retail mix, help choose the center’s logo, and participate in naming the final development.
Subject to securing planning and regulatory approvals, the Kin Kora Homemaker Centre is slated to open in 2030.
