A Generational Change at the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects

POSTED ON August 11, 2017 @ 3:57 pm

Harley Kruse of KruseGolf was recently elected President of the  Society of Australian Golf Course Architects (SAGCA) at its  27th  Annual General Meeting held  on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.    Harley replaces the outgoing President Ted Parslow who is an original founding member of the SAGCA and served 4 years in the  role.

The election of Harley along with Paul Mogford as Vice President, and Paul Reeves re-election as Secretary/Treasurer, sees the passing of the SAGCA Executive baton to the next generation of golf course architects.

Harley who is the only golf course architect to have worked for the design firms of Australia’s two greatest male golfers in Peter Thomson (SAGCA Patron) and Greg Norman (SAGCA Honorary Member) commented

“it is an exciting time at the SAGCA and I look forward to working alongside the two Pauls in Mogford and Reeves.   In the golf course design world which has become truly global and where our members are designing and remodelling courses in Australia, the Asia Pacific region, and indeed as far away as Scotland and the USA, my mission as President is to put the SAGCA out on the front foot and see us promote both the services and the excellent work that our members do.  From a humble country course, through to city golf clubs, and to the development of new courses I would like to see a greater awareness of the value of excellent design and the services that our members can bring to the table.   Importantly I look forward to growing our existing relationships within the golf industry and at the same time forging new ones”
