POSTED ON July 15, 2024 @ 9:42 am

Singapore: Tan Chong Huat has been confirmed as the first Chairman of the ASEAN Golf Federation (AGF).

Tan, President of the Singapore Golf Association, was unanimously elected to the post at the AGF’s annual general meeting, held on the sidelines of this week’s Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championships.

During the meeting at Seletar Country Club, the Philippines was confirmed as the host nation for the 62nd edition of the Southeast Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship in 2025.

As such, Martin Lorenzo, President of the National Golf Association of Philippines (NGAP), will take over the Presidency of AGF from Tan for the next year.

As the Chairman of AGF, Tan will be responsible for overseeing the strategic development of golf in ASEAN while also providing leadership and direction to the Federation for a term of four years.

He will be assisted by Deputy Chairman Vu Nguyen, who also acts as Vice President of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).

Tan said: “I’m very thankful for the privilege to serve the ASEAN Golf Federation and honoured to have the support from all members as I start my term.

“There is certainly immense potential in the golfing landscape in ASEAN. Together with all members, we will continue to build the entire eco-system which will benefit all countries in the region.”

Vu added: “I’m looking forward to working closely with Mr Tan to take ASEAN golf to greater heights.

“We will continue to strengthen our unity and ensure equal opportunities for all member countries as we leverage on the promising golf landscape in this region.”
