Canterbury Golf Appoints Mordaunt to Golf Operations & Support Role
Canterbury Golf is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Mordaunt to the position of Golf Operations & Support. Mordaunt, a respected member of the Russley Golf Club, brings a wealth of experience from the sports industry, with a strong background in junior and club development.
Tony Mordaunt joins Canterbury Golf after more than a decade at Harbour Sport, a Regional Sports Trust, where he held various roles focused on school and club development. His experience has provided him with a comprehensive skill set in program coordination, relationship building, and community engagement, which will be invaluable in his new position.
Mordaunt’s deep passion for golf is a significant asset. He has previously worked as a professional caddy at the renowned Tara Iti golf course and, more recently, as a community coach and contractor for Canterbury Golf, where he delivered successful Junior and “She Loves Golf” events. This hands-on experience has given him an excellent understanding of golf tournaments and competitions, as well as an intimate knowledge of the local clubs and the broader Canterbury golf community.
Commenting on his new role, Mordaunt said, “I’m really excited to step into this role and can’t wait to get started supporting all of Canterbury’s golf clubs, players and volunteers.”
Tony Mordaunt will officially begin his new role on September 15. He will spend his first two weeks shadowing Mike Millward, the current Golf Operations & Support, to ensure a smooth transition and to engage with clubs directly.
This appointment reinforces Canterbury Golf’s commitment to supporting its clubs and growing the game within the region.
