Carramar Golf Course Redevelopment Approved, Marangaroo Upgrades Await Decision

POSTED ON June 2, 2026 @ 9:25 am

The Western Australian Planning Commission has granted development approval for a major refurbishment of the Carramar Golf Course, marking a significant step forward for the public facility.

The $10 million project is designed to upgrade the course’s existing infrastructure, with construction potentially commencing as early as August.

Key Features of the Carramar Revamp

The centerpiece of the Carramar redevelopment is a new single-level, 33-bay undercover driving range equipped with floodlighting.

In addition to the driving range, the $10 million facelift will introduce:

  • 10 dedicated grass bays
  • A refurbished pro shop featuring a simulator and a tuition room
  • Upgraded changing facilities
  • A designated storage area for electric golf carts
  • A new lounge and an outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green

Proposed $16 Million Marangaroo Upgrade

A separate development application is currently under consideration by the Western Australian Planning Commission for the Marangaroo Golf Course.

The proposed $16 million upgrade for Marangaroo includes:

  • A new clubhouse featuring a fully integrated pro shop and changing rooms
  • A two-level, 44-bay undercover driving range utilizing smart golf technology
  • Enhanced indoor and outdoor hospitality spaces
  • Additional parking facilities

Community and Evolution of the Sport

Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken stated that the facility upgrades at both venues are intended to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the community.

“Carramar and Marangaroo have long been valued public golf courses for our community, and these upgrades are about making sure they continue to serve them well into the future,” Aitken said.

“Golf is changing, and we are seeing growing demand for facilities that are more modern, accessible and welcoming to a broader range of users. These upgrades will improve the experience for existing players while also creating more opportunities for women, young people, families and social players to get involved.”

Background

Marangaroo Golf Course established operations in 1988, followed by the opening of the Carramar course six years later in 1994. Both public courses are owned by the City of Wanneroo and managed on its behalf by Belgravia Leisure.
