Manila, Philippines: Participants at next week’s Philippine Golf Course Management Conference will be rewarded with credits from globally-recognised bodies.

Organised by the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines in co-operation with the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the two-day event in Dasmarinas City is presented by the Asian Golf Industry Federation [AGIF].

More than 125 golf course superintendents, course maintenance managers, golf directors and club managers are expected to be present at The Orchard Golf and Country Club, a Golf Facility Member of the AGIF.

And they will be buoyed by news that the event will carry credit points with both the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America [GCSAA] and the Club Managers Association of America [CMAA].

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is another major breakthrough in Asia and underlines the objectives of the Federation in offering educational programmes and the chance for individuals to progress their careers.

“We thank the GCSAA and the CMAA for their support, guidance and encouragement as we aim to take education for golf industry professionals to a new level in Asia.

“In addition to continuing to educate superintendents and greenkeepers with the support of our education seminars, we are also putting the club manager qualification prospect in front of golf course superintendents who may not previously have thought about moving into club management at some point.

“For club managers in attendance we are providing points on the pathway to the esteemed Certified Club Manager [CCM] degree awarded by the CMAA and implemented by the AGIF.”

The Philippine Golf Course Management Conference is the second event in the AGIF series of Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days in 2016.

March saw the staging of the AGIF Turfgrass Management Exposition in Pattaya, Thailand. Other events this year will be held in Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Lynge said: “The over-riding objective of the AGIF is to bring about these type of events for the benefit of the Asian golf industry.

“The Federation will continue to invest in gatherings such as this as they have such a positive impact on the industry as a whole.”
