Royal Perth Golf Club Nears Completion of Major Masterplan Phase

POSTED ON November 14, 2025 @ 11:30 am

The Royal Perth Golf Club (RPGC) has announced the near-completion of Stage 2 of its comprehensive Course Masterplan Project, marking a significant step in its journey to establish a truly world-class golfing destination.

Following the successful transformation of Holes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 16 in Stage 1, the 2025 works have delivered substantial and visible enhancements across the historic course. The club is currently in the grow-in phase, with turf laid, greens seeded, and the new irrigation system fully installed. The final stages of native vegetation planting are underway, with propagation set for inclusion in autumn.

The 2025 Transformation Highlights

Stage 2 has fundamentally reshaped key parts of the course layout and practice facilities:

  • New Playing Surfaces: Complete reconstruction of the new 7th, 13th, and 18th Greens.
  • New Holes: Creation of new Par 3 holes at the 8th Tee & Green and the 14th Tee & Green (which will become the future 13th hole in the final 2026 plan).
  • New Tees: Installation of new tees on the 9th and 15th holes.
  • Premier Practice Facilities: The launch of a new 1,750sqm Himalaya Practice Putting Green & Chipping Green, setting a new standard for member practice.

A Vision for the Future

RPGC emphasised that these improvements are about more than just structural upgrades—they represent a commitment to creating an exceptional golfing experience focused on safety, environmental stewardship, and water conservation. The masterplan strategically integrates native vegetation to complement the new course architecture.

“The transformation is visible from every angle,” a club representative stated. “Combined with strategically placed native vegetation, environmental and water saving initiatives and a strong focus on improved safety across the site, we’re proud of how our vision is becoming reality.”

Teamwork and Expertise

The club extended a special acknowledgment to its dedicated Agronomy Team, led by Course Superintendent Patrick Casey, for their exceptional work throughout the challenging project. Gratitude was also expressed to the expert design consultants: Mike Clayton, DeVries & Pont, Harley Kruse, and Lukas Michel, for their vision and guidance.

With Stage 3 now firmly on the horizon for 2026, the club is set to open the newly completed Stage 2 elements to members in January 2026. Members are encouraged to “Stay tuned for more drone footage in the coming weeks” as the course nears its grand unveiling.
