He fell into the insurance business by chance but into the golf industry by passion. Daniel Bateup, Founder and Managing Director of Golf Business Australia (GBA) seems to have found the successful recipe of combining business with pleasure while insuring the industry he loves.

A country kid turned successful insurance broker in the big city, Bateup has racked up years of experience advising business owners from a variety of industries on how to best protect their livelihood.

After a career as a semi-professional soccer player fell through in 2005, Bateup was introduced to the world of insurance where he went on to complete industry qualifications whilst working for a highly respected insurance broker.

In 2016 he decided to fine-tune his target and launched his own financial services company, Golf Business Australia, focusing on the golf industry. This venture stemmed from years advising and administrating golf clubs insurances before identifying a greater opportunity to service the wider golf business community.

“The passion that I have for the golf industry was born out of what I’ve received from the game in the past; the sport itself and what the industry offers,” Bateup said.

“I’m just a kid from the country who moved to the big smoke and found himself starting a business in the golf industry that provides insurance and finance solutions. I’m passionate about helping other golf businesses and people in the industry not too dissimilar to me,”

“I started Golf Business Australia because I saw an opportunity, but I also share many people’s passion for golf. Being able to combine my expertise and apply my qualifications to an industry that I love was a no-brainer.”

After recognising a lack of qualified advice, Bateup partnered with reputable insurance companies, developing programs to better protect golf clubs and golf businesses alike.
