GolfWA and PGA of Australia – WA Join Forces Under One Roof
For the first time, Western Australia’s leading golf bodies will operate under a single roof, as GolfWA and the PGA of Australia – WA complete their moves to SportHQ in Floreat.
GolfWA is set to relocate in late August, followed by the PGA of WA in September, with both organisations fully operational at the new headquarters by early October.
Since its formation in 2011 through the merger of the men’s and women’s golf associations, GolfWA has operated out of South Perth, at premises previously home to the WA Golf Association since 1981. While steeped in history, the facilities had become increasingly unsuitable for a growing team, prompting the move to SportHQ – a modern hub for Western Australian sport.
GolfWA Chief Executive Gary Thomas highlighted the benefits the move will bring: “The facilities at SportHQ are superb and much better suited for the requirements of a major sporting body. Sharing a space with SportWest and organisations like Rugby WA, Western Force, Lacrosse WA, Sports Medicine Australia, and Triathlon WA opens up opportunities for collaboration and the exchange of best practices that will benefit golf across the state.”
SportHQ is now home to more than a dozen peak sporting organisations, providing a centralised environment for networking, innovation, and operational efficiency.
Brendon Allanby, WA State Manager for the PGA of Australia, echoed the positive sentiment: “The PGA enjoys a strong relationship with GolfWA, and this move will only enhance how both organisations work together into the future. We are grateful to the Town of Cambridge for hosting us at Wembley Golf Course since 2016, which has been a truly world-class facility.”
For affiliated clubs and stakeholders, the move will be seamless. GolfWA’s phone and email contacts remain unchanged, ensuring uninterrupted service during the transition.
With both bodies now co-located at SportHQ, Western Australian golf is poised to benefit from greater collaboration, shared expertise, and a strengthened presence within the state’s sporting community.
