GreenSpace Management hold Royal initiative ‘Women’s Golf Morning Tea’

POSTED ON November 28, 2024 @ 3:34 pm

Earlier this year GreenSpace Management became the first “off course” provider globally to become a signatory to the R&A Women in Golf Charter, and as part of this commitment, GreenSpace has been flying along with numerous amazing Women focused initiatives at their golf and mini golf courses nationally.

The latest initiative ‘Women’s Golf Morning Tea’ was held at Royal Park Public Golf Course, just 2km from the CBD of Melbourne in partnership with Golf Australia, The Y (YMCA Victoria) and the City of Melbourne.

The event aimed to address common barriers to female participation in golf, including all the rules associated with the game of golf, skill levels, pace of play and dress codes.

GreenSpace wiped the course clean of literally every barrier to entry – so much so, that they closed the course down for the morning just for Women to enjoy their game of golf!

The event welcomed almost 70 Women to the golf course from a variety of golfing backgrounds from experienced to never played before golfers. GreenSpace introduced three levels of play with a unique 5-hole golf format, ‘Get into Golf’ starter clinics as well as ‘Never Played Before’ sessions.

GreenSpace PGA Professionals and Community Instructors assisted all participants throughout the day in a fun, relaxed and social setting, encouraging the ‘fresh airy swings’ and sips of Prosecco! “The relaxed, no-pressure atmosphere made this a fun and accessible way for women to get involved in golf, and we can’t wait to build on this success in future events.” Matt Doran PGA, Facility Manager – Royal Park Golf Course.

The event supported The Y’s “Open Doors Program” which supports people experiencing disadvantage by subsiding access to the programs and services run by the Y Victoria – a program that has helped thousands enjoy sport and recreation without barriers of entry.

“Our Women in Golf Working Group set out to create an event that was accessible and open to all to enjoy Royal Park in a relaxed, social and fun setting – without the pressures of a normal Saturday at the golf course.” Joe Sinnott, National Operations Coordinator – GreenSpace Management.

The event was praised by its participants for its relaxed pace, with attendees noting that the longer gaps between tee times and the supportive, non-pressured environment helped reduce anxiety and increase fun levels significantly.

The Women’s Morning Tee event marks a significant step in making golf more accessible to women and fostering a supportive
community for newcomers to the game. Royal Park Public Golf Course is part of Active Melbourne, the City of Melbourne’s Sport and Recreation team which are committed to providing facilities, programs and services that connect our communities. Together with our trusted partners, we are committed to supporting our community to lead a healthier, more active life.
