Guzik Honoured by CMANZ As Farewell to the United States

The Club Managers Association of New Zealand (CMA NZ) board gathered at Tara Iti Golf Club to farewell outgoing immediate Past President Matt Guzik CCM CCE and his wife Linda, marking the end of his 12-year tenure in New Zealand ahead of his retirement in Montana.

Board Recognition and Maori Presentation

The event commenced with a special board meeting convened to formally acknowledge Guzik’s contributions. Following the meeting, Matt and Linda Guzik were presented with a double koru Maori carving to commemorate his role in developing Tara Iti Golf Course and Club from its initial vision into a facility ranked 19th in the world.

The presentation included an explanation of the double koru’s spiritual significance delivered in Maori and translated into English, denoting peace, tranquility, positive change, and new beginnings.

Life Membership Awarded

During his time in New Zealand, Guzik served as Chair of the Board, Business Management Institute (BMI) presenter, host for various Association events at Tara Iti, mentor to industry peers, and liaison to the Club Management Association of America (CMAA).

In recognition of his work, Life Member Chris Davies CCM, acting on a motion put forward by Life Member Warren Collett CCM, conferred Life Membership on Guzik, making him the fourth Life Member in the history of CMA NZ.

Course Round and Dinner

Following the formal proceedings, Guzik hosted the CMA NZ group for a round of golf at Tara Iti. The day concluded with a dinner hosted by Te Arai Golf Club General Manager Brian Spicer at Ric’s at the Ocean Restaurant.
