Hastings Golf Club proposal opens for public submissions (NZ)
A proposal to develop the Hastings Golf Club with visitor accommodation and residential development will be open for submissions from Saturday, with a proponent saying it could be a model for other financially strained clubs to follow.
The club has partnered with Golf Sport Development Limited Partnership (GSDLP) and lodged a private plan change request that would see club’s 82.12 hectare site near Hastings moved from Plains Production Zone to a new “Heretaunga Golf Tourism Zone”.
GSDLP is comprised of former pro-golfer and renowned golf course designer Greg Turner, golf tourism experts Ryan Brandeburg, and David Moore.
They, along with the club, and investors Ian Morgan and John Buchanan have developed a proposed concept that would see the club benefit by getting a new clubhouse and an upgraded golf course, as well as a 1.5% transfer fee from the resale of all homes.
