International Nominations Open for Women in Golf Awards

POSTED ON September 14, 2024 @ 2:35 pm

NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMAN, SPONSORED BY PERRY ELLIS

The Women in Golf Awards is an annual event held in the UK that was launched in 2022 to elevate, celebrate and inspire women working in golf.  The awards recognise the contribution of women at every stage of their careers, across the many disciplines in which they work.

One of the 8 categories open for nominations is The International Woman Award, sponsored by Perry Ellis, which is presented to a woman working outside of the UK who has made a significant contribution to the part of industry in which they work.  Nominations will be accepted for any discipline and should detail their achievements in the last year and across their career. The judges are looking for women who demonstrate leadership and use their profile to elevate women in their region.

Last year’s winner was Singapore based Karen Proctor, Regional Sales Director APAC at Textron, who was also the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s first female Board member and office bearer as Secretary of the organisation.  On winning the award last year, she commented, “The Women in Golf awards play an important role in highlighting the need for inclusivity and balance in the industry. Winning International Woman last summer was a highlight of my career.  I am grateful to all the team for elevating the message around diversity.  Good luck to all the nominees this year, listening to the journeys and accomplishments of the women highlighted every year is truly inspiring.”

The awards ceremony created visibility for women working in golf and also provided the first real opportunity for female industry members to connect with other women in the industry.  The awards underlined just how many women do work in golf and the breadth of roles they fulfil, as returning sponsor Helen Willsmer of Perry Ellis, with brands such as Callaway Apparel and Original Penguin, added, “I was lucky to attend the very first event and was so impressed by the number of women I met who are already doing amazing work across so many different fields.  The Women in Golf Awards is an important platform that improves the retention of women working in golf and will hopefully encourage more women to enter the industry as well as celebrate successes.  We are proud to sponsor the International Woman category and look forward to seeing the breadth of the nominations this year.”

On November 28th women – and men – from across the industry will be heading to Foxhills in Surrey, UK to congratulate the winners of this year’s Women in Golf Awards.  Nominations can be made on www.womeningolfawards.co.uk until midnight on September 30th.
