JOB: Assistant Director of Golf – Commonwealth Golf Club
About
The Commonwealth Golf Club is situated in the famed sand belt of Melbourne and aim to provide its members with a premium service and facility. It is home to over 1200 members with a fantastic atmosphere and working environment.
Commonwealth is seeking the services of a Full-time Assistant Director of Golf to join the team. The Pro Shop is the primary contact point for members and guests and therefore the successful candidate will possess a strong customer service attitude and personable approach to ensure an outstanding experience for members and guests alike.
Responsibilities-
Principal Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and promote all golf events
- Conduct private & group tuition for members & guests (PGA Accreditation)
- Assist with club fitting and fitting day events for additional support
- Assist with mentoring future PGA Associates with academic and workplace tasks.
- Assist the Match Committee, Match Convenor & Women’s Captain
- Member and guest golf services – retail, competition, tuition and practice facilities
- Ensuring all reasonable requests of the Director of Golf are responded to in an efficient and timely manner.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Competition Management
- Oversee the administration of all golf competitions including handicapping and the calculation and communication of results
- Manage the commencement of play from starting tees as required
- Assist with the organisation of corporate golf events
- Support the Match Convenor and attend the Match Committee meeting. This includes the collation of all supporting material and minuting the meeting.
- Support the Women’s Captain and Women’s Committee via the management of member competitions (including external events – interclub, pennant, bowls, etc) and provide advice when required
- Coordination and administration of member and visitor golf bookings
- Assistance with the coordination of course activity including, tee starting and course marshalling
- Management of timesheets, calculation of competition results, and maintenance of handicaps
- Accurate reconciliation of individual and daily sales including green fees, hire and sales
Reciprocal:
- Handle any visitor enquiries and make bookings as required
- Control reciprocal visitation to ensure it does not impede member play and impact fee paying interstate/international visitors
- Record origin of visitors and prepare a monthly report for the General Manager
- Provide any urgent outbound letters of introduction, with this function being an office responsibility
- Meet and greet visitors upon arrival and show them around the facilities if it is their first visit
Tuition:
- Assist Head Teaching Professional and Director of Golf with coaching services for clinics and private tuition when required.
- Perform fitting services for members to assist with retail sales
Retail:
- Support the Retail Buyer, and operations team, in selling merchandise and equipment as and when required.
- Attend any training sessions as required to assist with product knowledge
- Help promote any fitting days and fashion events
- Accurate transaction for goods and services
- Communication
- Maintain the Golf Shop pages of the Club website and other digital member communication
- Post information on social media in accordance with any social media policy the club may have
General:
- Provide hands-on customer service support to members and guests
- Build a rapport with the members and gain an understanding of their needs and be easily accessible
- Present the Golf Shop and surrounds in a secure, safe and clean manner that promotes high standards of service and provides a comfortable and welcoming environment for members and guests.
