JOB: Championship Golf Course – Team Leaders x 2 (Spray Tech or Irrigation Specialists)

POSTED ON December 8, 2025 @ 3:22 pm

About Country Club and the new Championship Golf Course:

At Country Club Tasmania, we’re building something truly special — a new championship golf course designed to rival some of the world’s best.

Created by globally respected architect Robin Gibson, our new par 72, 18-hole Championship Course will be situated within a beautifully landscaped parkland precinct, inspired by some of the finest courses in North America and the UK. Make no mistake, what’s coming is a landmark in every sense of the word. It’s a course that rewards thoughtful play and invites golfers to return again and again.

Scheduled to open in Summer 2026/27, it will offer a visually stunning and challenging experience and we’re now looking for a motivated and talented Team Leaders to help prepare and maintain the course to premium tournament standards.

What you can expect in a day in the role:

As a Team Leader, you’ll take ownership of daily operations across the golf course. Leading the maintenance of the golf course, gardens, and surroundings areas – including turf management, irrigation, mowing.   Working alongside the Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, you’ll lead a team in safe and effective chemical applications, pest and disease management, ensuring top-tier turf performance, water conservation and sustainability.

You’ll set high standards for presentation, precision, and safety while mentoring others to build their own technical capability. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in world-class playing surfaces and wants to be part of establishing a landmark course from its first season.

We’re looking for two Team Leaders: one who is skilled in Spraying and another who specialises in Irrigation, both leading our teams to excellence.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Drive daily golf course maintenance operations, allocate tasks, set clear standards, and lead by example.
  • Provide feedback on turf health, quality of surfaces, course presentation and attention to detail to management.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise crew members in the field.

  Spray Technician:

  • Oversee all spray programs and chemical applications across greens, tees, and fairways.
  • Provide top-level expertise in safe chemical application (herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilisers).
  • Lead integrated pest and disease management solutions.
  • Prepare, calibrate, and operate spraying equipment to expert standards.
  • Use GPS and variable-rate systems for precision application.

  Irrigation Technician:

  • Expert operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all irrigation systems.
  • Develop, schedule, and monitor water distribution for maximum course health and efficiency.
  • Maintain and promptly repair all hydraulic and control systems.
  • Operate electrical systems for irrigation control.
  • Implement industry best-practice water conservation.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Given the expert and senior nature of these roles, it is expected that the successful applicants will bring a strong track record in turf management, with the ability to lead a team, teach, and work to the highest agronomic standards. The successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Engaging and positive team leadership and motivation
  • Strong safety, compliance, and record-keeping skills
  • Hands-on experience with technology-driven application practices
  • Demonstrated in field experience working at a team leader level in a similar role.
  • As well as the following qualifications:

Cert III in Sports Turf Management (AHC31319)
Chemical User Accreditation (AHCCHM307 + AHCCHM304), Agricultural Chemical Skill Set (AHCSS00074) and State Chem Applicator Licence (Tasmania NRE)  or  Cert III in Irrigation Technology, or Cert III in Sports Turf Management (plus irrigation units)

An appointee to this role may be subject to pre-employment and ongoing screening checks.

What you can expect from us:

Country Club Tasmanian is a proud part of Federal Hospitality (including Wrest Point, Safire, and Macq01 to name a few) and offers:

  • Staff discounts across Federal Hospitality properties
  • Access to hundreds of discounts across many brands, helping you save on everyday expenses, including phone bills, fuel and groceries, fashion, restaurants, and entertainment
  • Free parking onsite and fully laundered and tailored staff uniform
