The Club                                                      

Located in the heart of the beautiful NSW town of Yamba, the Yamba Golf & Country Club (YGCC) offers all the latest facilities you would expect from a modern social and sporting club.

If you are looking for an opportunity to get out of the city or move from a regional town, then this exciting role at Yamba Golf and Country Club could offer the perfect career move, coupled with a great beach lifestyle.

Located seven hours north of Sydney and three hours south of Brisbane, Yamba offers a stylish village charm, pristine beaches, lush national parks, serene waterways, and a vibrant leisure scene. Yamba has been voted Australia’s No 1 tourist town in recent years and is well known as a unique beachside holiday and lifestyle location!

The Club is in the initial stages of a DA approved renovation, which will elevate the Club experience even further. YGCC has an annual turnover of $6m, close to 3,000 members (700 Golfing members), a gaming installation of 47 EGMs (56 entitlements in total), and a dynamic team of 40 staff.

The Role

YGCC is looking for a new General Manager to take on this exciting role. Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will lead and manage the team to not only enhance and grow all areas of the business but to also focus on additional revenue streams, including their development and implementation.

The General Manager will be required to focus on bringing new experiences to both the golfing and social members and their families.

The Board of Directors of YGCC are looking forward to welcoming an experienced Manager who will drive both the clubhouse and Golf business to continued future development and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of all areas of the Club’s operations, overseeing bar, gaming, functions and food in collaboration with senior managers.
  • Strategic planning, identifying, pursuing, and leading the Club into future opportunities.
  • Financial management, including budgeting, overseeing the preparation of financial reports, and cost management.
  • Management and leadership of staff, including managing staff development and performance through strong mentoring and leadership.
  • Understanding of project management in relation to renovations, refurbishments etc.
  • Maintaining and developing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all legislation across all areas of the business.
  • Providing and driving marketing initiatives to attract and retain members.
  • Providing excellence in customer satisfaction and representing the Club within the community with ultimate professionalism.

 

To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

The new General Manager will bring a demonstrated knowledge, ability, experience, and confidence to the role, with a high degree of capability in pro-active customer service initiatives and professionalism.

  • Demonstrate experience in business management (preferably within a golf or hospitality environment).
  • Possess a high level of business ethics and integrity.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build on, lead, and motivate effective teams to succeed and further develop the business.
  • Have experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate financial management, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Hold current RSA and RCG certificates as well as meet the strict criteria to hold the Club’s licence.
  • Be confident in working collaboratively with the Board of Directors.
  • Have up-to-date knowledge on all legislation relating to licenced venues and the ability to work flexible hours and days.
  • Have a passion for delivering excellence and creating an environment where members, guests and staff feel valued and engaged.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded.
