MST in TaylorMade partnership
In a move that will certainly make waves in the industry, TaylorMade announced the appointment of MST Golf as its exclusive distribution partner in Malaysia and Singapore.
Elaborating the move, brought about by the spilt of adidas and TaylorMade on the global stage, TaylorMade’s vice-president and managing director of Japan and Asia Mark Sheldon-Allen said they were excited and looked forward to the two partners growing the brand.
The partnership, effective Oct 1, was announced in Kuala Lumpur with dealers, industry personalities and media from both countries present.
Commenting on the development, Sheldon-Allen said: “MST’s experience and strength, passion and support for golf and the TaylorMade brand is massive and we are excited to be working with them as our strategic partner for the Singapore and Malaysia markets.
“We are really looking forward to growing and taking TaylorMade to the next level in these markets.”
MST Golf chief executive officer Ng Yap said a new TaylorMade team has been put in place under the auspices of their golf wholesale division.
“This team will manage the brand and distribution,” said Ng. “The new TaylorMade team will also take care of servicing dealers, including MST Golf Retail, in the same way TaylorMade adidas Golf (prior to the spilt of the two) did when they were managing it as a subsidiary company.”
Also at the event, TaylorMade launched three new products, namely the GAPR, a new rescue iron with three distinct heads, the M Gloire, a premium model from Japan and now part of the M family of products, and the P760 irons that have enhanced forgiveness properties.
MST Golf is the largest golf service provider in South-East Asia with companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, and a business presence in the key markets of the region.
