Pondok Indah Hosts Club Management Mini Summit

POSTED ON August 3, 2018 @ 11:22 pm

Female participation in golf will be a main topic of discussion at this month’s Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF)-organised Club Management Mini Summit.

To be held at the Pondok Indah Golf Gallery on August 15, the event is being staged in collaboration with the Golf Course Managers Association of Indonesia (GCMAI).

Budi Kosasih, President of the GCMAI and General Manager at Pondok Indah Golf Course, said: “We are pleased to work with the AGIF on this Club Management Mini Summit. Coming less than a fortnight before Pondok Indah hosts the Asian Games golf competitions this is especially poignant as the attention of the golfing world will be fixed on Indonesia.”

Also on the agenda at the Mini Summit will be Golf Operations for Managers and an afternoon panel session featuring leading officials from the GCMAI at which the state of the Indonesian golf industry will come under scrutiny.

However, the keynote address will turn the spotlight on female participation in the game with a presentation from Mick McLaughlin, Head of Ornamental, Syngenta, an Executive Member of the AGIF.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re delighted that Mick is able to deliver this important presentation that is based on research that Syngenta commissioned in Europe. It is extremely relevant to Asia and is a great ‘grow-the-game’ starter.”

Other speakers at the Mini Summit will be Chris Gray, Head of Golf Course Maintenance at the Singapore Island Country Club, and Roger Goettsch, Head Superintendent at China’s Shanqin Bay.

The Club Management Mini Summit will follow on directly from the 2018 ASPGI (Asosiasi Superintendent Padang Golf Indonesia) Turf Management Seminar and Field Day at Palm Hill Golf Club on August 13-14.

Lynge said: “Over the course of the past two years we have staged a number of very successful Club Management Mini Summits around the region.

Budi Kosasih

“We thank Pak Budi and the Golf Course Managers Association of Indonesia for their encouragement and support and look forward to working closely with them to grow the game in various areas in the years ahead.”

The ASPGI Turf Management Seminar will be the fourth event in the AGIF series of Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days in 2018.

March saw the staging of the AGIF Turfgrass Management Exposition in Pattaya, Thailand.

The Philippine Golf Course Management Conference took place at The Orchard Golf and Country Club at the start of May and was followed by the Vietnam Turfgrass Management Seminar at the Song Be Golf Resort.

Following on from Indonesia, at least two further events are planned for 2018.
