The Pro Tour Golf College’s (PTGC) National Golf Learning and Performance Centre at Emeralda Golf Course, Indonesia, is expected to be fully operational by early next month.

Construction of the program’s new state-of-the-art training facility commenced in January of this year, designed to provide Indonesian golf players with world-class training, and was brought forward in conjunction with the National Golf Institute (NGI).

With the College based in Perth, founders Lawrie Montague and David Milne have been coaching golf for Pro Tour Golf College since 2011, conducting a tag-team styled coaching in Indonesia, with the sole purpose to give opportunity to young players outside of Australia.

“This is a significant and progressive leap for Indonesian golf that we are very proud to be involved in together with the National Golf Institute,” said PTGC co-founder and golf coach professional David Milne.

“This new performance centre is part of our long-term project in training Indonesian golfers in a high performance environment, helping them achieve a lower scoring average and playing the major tours.”

Emeralda Golf Course is the program’s first international campus, located just outside of Jakarta, and has offered a full-time Elite Golfer Program on its premises since April 2014.

Australian PGA Member Montague said “PTGC is focusing their energy, knowledge and expertise on delivering three programs for golfers aged seven to 18 years and older in Indonesia.”

The level 1 program is called the “Discovery Program”, designed for novice golfers aged 7 to 12.  The next level program is “The Momentum Program”, which is aimed at advanced golfers 13 to 17.

The “Destiny Program” is primarily aimed at elite amateurs and professionals 18 years and above.

The programs are designed to deliver 3 pathways for golfers; The Elite Golfer Pathway (National Team and representative golfers), the College Golfer Pathway (golfers wanting to earn a US college scholarship at a Division 1 or 2 school) and the Tour Golfer Pathway (Golfers wanting to become a professional tour golfer).

“We are giving juniors the option to focus on one of these development paths from our three programs, as our experience suggests that these are areas of interest today for parents investing in their child’s future,” Coach Montague said.

Emeralda’s new learning centre will encompass an array of modern equipment, including a technology bay, an in-building putting studio, a golf specific gym area, lounge areas and an admin area.

A Golf 3D System, which is a full-swing club and body tracking system to measure and analyse every nuance of a golf swing in full 3D format, will also be installed on the site along with a new 80m tee and a short game area.

PGA Professional Miles said the new facility would have everything in place to train Indonesian golfers, but that PTGC will also market their program and the new facilities outside of Indonesia.

“We want to attract National Teams and individuals who want to use our facility as a training base in S.E Asia whether they are from countries in the Northern Hemisphere or elsewhere. They may want to train at our facility during winter as the weather is good for practice and playing all year,” he said.

“Our specialty is teaching golfers how to train more efficiently, focusing on lowering scoring average and training the mental side of golf, rather than trying to perfect a golf swings as many other golf academies and golf schools do.”

PTGC is the only pro tour prep college of its kind, and was established specifically to help advanced amateur and professional golfers to lower their competitive score average and equip them with all the skills necessary to become a competent elite amateur or successful tour player.

“We aim to teach young golfers how to develop every aspect of their golfing potential from mental skills development through to tournament planning and preparation,” Coach Miles reiterated.

“If you can’t do it in training, you will not be able to do it in a tournament.”
