Royal Perth Golf Club Unveils Major Course Upgrades in Stage 2 Masterplan
The Royal Perth Golf Club (RPGC) has marked a “significant milestone” in its quest for a world-class course, announcing the near-completion of Stage 2 of its comprehensive Course Masterplan Project.
The 2025 upgrades follow the successful completion of Stage 1 (Holes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 16) and introduce substantial enhancements across the course, with turf laid, greens seeded, and new irrigation installed.
Key Changes in Stage 2
The latest work has seen the creation of:
- A new 7th, 13th, and 18th green.
- New Par 3 holes at the 8th Tee & Green and the 14th Tee & Green.
- New tees at the 9th and 15th holes.
- A new 19th Green (Par 3).
- A new 1,750sqm Himalaya Practice Putting Green & Chipping Green.
The Club noted that some elements, like the new 13th and 14th holes, are part of the final course layout expected in 2026. These improvements are part of a larger focus on enhanced safety, water conservation, and the strategic planting of native vegetation.
RPGC expects the newly completed Stage 2 elements to open to members in January 2026.
The club acknowledged the hard work of its Agronomy Team, led by Course Superintendent Patrick Casey, and thanked expert consultants, including Mike Clayton, DeVries & Pont, Harley Kruse, and Lukas Michel for their guidance. With Stage 3 on the horizon for 2026, the RPGC stated it’s an “exciting time” as the vision for the new course becomes reality.
