South Australian Golf Industry Celebrates Excellence at 14th Annual Awards Night

The South Australian golf community came together in style on November 1 for the 14th annual South Australian Golf Industry Awards Night held at the Hilton Adelaide.

With more than 230 guests in attendance, the evening was a celebration of excellence, leadership, and the vibrant spirit that defines golf in South Australia.

Hosted by Ben Hook, the night featured heartfelt tributes, inspiring stories, and well-deserved recognition for individuals and clubs who have made outstanding contributions to the game.

Major Award Highlights

Among the most prestigious honours of the night:

  • Damian Wrigley of Mount Osmond Golf Club was named SA Management Professional of the Year, sponsored by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, recognising his exceptional leadership and commitment to club excellence.
  • Robert Vincekovic of Glenelg Golf Club received the Excellence in Golf Club Management Award, sponsored by Schweppes, honouring his resilience and strategic leadership through governance challenges, insurance reforms, and a full course redevelopment.
  • Jay Fuss was named SA Club Professional of the Year, celebrating his dedication to member engagement and coaching excellence.
  • Anne Marie Knight received the SA Coach of the Year – Game Development, sponsored by BGC Industrial, for her tireless work growing the game at grassroots level.
  • Adrian Wickstein was awarded SA Coach of the Year – High Performance, sponsored by the PGA, for guiding elite athletes to national and international success.

Turf & Facility Excellence

The turf management sector was also in the spotlight:

  • Oliver Davis of Royal Adelaide Golf Club was named Golf Graduate of the Year, sponsored by Nuturf, after also claiming top honours nationally at the ASTMA Awards.
  • Sam Smith of Willunga Golf Club received the Excellence in Turf Management Award, sponsored by John Deere and Metropolitan Machinery, for his transformative work in sustainability and course presentation.

Club and Community Awards

Celebrating innovation and inclusivity across clubs:

  • Glenelg Golf Club won MyGolf Program of the Year, sponsored by Golf Car Solutions, for its outstanding junior engagement.
  • The Vines Golf Club of Reynella was named WHS Club of the Year, sponsored by Risk Profilers.
  • SHANX @ Little Para took home Venue-Facility of the Year – Off Course, sponsored by Golf Australia.
  • The Pat GC was crowned Club, Venue or Facility of the Year – On Course, sponsored by Miclub, also recognised nationally for its environmental initiatives.
  • Aston Hills Golf Club received the Women & Girls in Golf Award, sponsored by Greenspace Management, for its commitment to gender equity and participation.
  • Deb Christie was honoured as Volunteer of the Year, sponsored by Golf Australia, for her tireless service to the sport.

Hall of Fame induction

A special moment of the evening was the induction of Chris Bonython into the South Australian Golf Industry Hall of Fame. With a career spanning decade and accolades including being an Australian Amateur champion and Eisenhower Cup representative, Chris’s legacy continues to inspire generations of golfers.

National Recognition

South Australia’s success extended beyond state borders, with Glenelg Golf Club winning MyGolf Venue of the Year and The Pat GC receiving Most Outstanding Environmental Initiative at the Golf Australia National Awards of Excellence.

A Night to Remember

From junior prodigies to seasoned leaders and volunteers, the 2025 Awards Night was a powerful reminder of the depth and diversity of talent in South Australian golf.
