Three Northern Beaches golfing facilities getting multimillion-dollar upgrades

Three golfing facilities on the northern beaches are in for multimillion-dollar upgrades that will see brand new state-of-the-art technology, driving range upgrades and a new clubhouse.
Start practising your swing – three northern beaches golfing facilities are getting multimillion upgrades — with plans for state-of-the-art technology, 18-hole mini golf courses, driving ranges and indoor amenities for both skilled golfers and beginners.
‘Golf Paradise’ at 1A Myoora Rd, Terrey Hills is in for an upgrade, with new owners hoping to fully refurbish the site into a fully interactive and social golf experience for golfers and non-golfers alike.
Lodged to Northern Beaches Council by new owners Swing Factory, the $4.2m plans seek consent to begin updating the outdoor area of the golf centre, including fully transforming the 12,218sq m driving range by installing Toptracer ball-tracing technology in each of the 58 bays, upgrade the driving range with a 42-metre tall netting and construct an 18-hole mini golf course.
‘Golf Paradise’ at 1A Myoora Rd, Terrey Hills will be renamed ‘Swing Factory’ and transformed to a fully interactive and social golfing facility.
A planner from the project said the proposal seeks to continue to operate the site as an outdoor recreation facility while delivering an “innovative golf entertainment and hospitality experience” to the community.
“The Swing Factory experiences will deliver an environment suitable for golfers and non-golfers alike and appeal to a broad range of user groups.” the planner said.
“Each of our facilities will become iconic community assets which are inclusive, family friendly and welcoming for all ages and ability levels.”
The Terrey Hills driving range will be completely refurbished with seven synthetically turfed target greens and a 42-metre net.
Plans also include the construction of seven synthetically turfed target greens, improvements to the outdoor entertainment area and the conversion of the existing baseball nets to outdoor play area and addition of another nine hole mini golf course as part of stage two of the development.
Once complete, the clubhouse and entertainment garden areas will be operational from 7:00am to 12:30am, with the mini golf and driving range hitting bays open from 7:00am to 11:00pm.
Special approval is also sought for Swing Factory to exceed the maximum permissible height of 8.5m to enable their 42m high netting to prevent numerous golf balls entering the neighbouring Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, with data showing the proposed large-scale net will capture 99.987% of all balls hit.

If approved, Swing Golf will be able to accommodate 285 people at capacity, with six employees during off peak mode and up to 17 employees during peak mode.
Warringah Golf Club is the second facility in for an upgrade, with a development application lodged to council seeking approval to construct a new ancillary clubhouse to replace the existing building at 397 Condamine St, North Manly.
Originally built in 1939 before being replaced in 1969, the current clubhouse is lacking reaching its full potential with its function areas and dining rooms being used infrequently.

Instead, the construction of a new two-storey clubhouse at 433 Pittwater Rd, North Manly at the southeast corner of the Warringah Golf Course is proposed, consisting of 1,210sq m of gross floor area, a retail pro shop, garden lounge, commercial/office rooms, dining and function rooms, and a licensed sports bar and terrace area.
In partnership with Warringah Golf Club and Northern Beaches Council, the proposed development seeks to support the continued use of the site for recreational purposes as part of council’s Warringah Recreation Centre Masterplan, updating the site to give community access to tennis, squash and futsal courts.
A planner from the project said the proposed development aims to construct a new ancillary clubhouse and amenities building, with intended use by golfers, members of the public and local sporting clubs.

“The proposed development would redevelop a portion of the Masterplan site to accommodate the new ancillary clubhouse and amenities building, while the remainder of the site will be redevelopment by Council.” the planner said.
“The proposed development supports the continued use of the site for recreational purposes and preserves the amenity of all surrounding sites, including the wider Warringah Recreation Centre, Warringah Golf Course and residential areas on the eastern side of Pittwater Road.”

With an estimated cost of $8.7m, the clubhouse can house 320 staff and customers at capacity and plans to be open seven days a week, excluding the commercial office and meeting rooms which will be open Monday to Friday,
Cromer is the final northern beaches suburb that will receive an influx of golfing goods, with the world’s largest indoor Trackman performance facility coming to 4-8 Innman Rd in the upcoming months.
Development plans for the $2.2m facility were approved last year and are currently underway, with owners Precision Golf constructing 25 Trackman driving range bays, five Trackman simulator bays, two Trackman club fitting bags and 18-hole professionally designer indoor putt putt course in their new state-of-the-art indoor golfing facility.
A tilting putting green and performance putting lab, a golf retail store, repair shop, two function/party rooms, an osteopath, two infra-red saunas and a gym area are also among plans.
