New Semi-Private Club Located Near Seoul Opens Spring 2012 Scottsdale, Ariz. (October 31, 2011) Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development, and marketing, is pleased to announce it has been appointed to manage Island Country Club on the island of Daebu in Korea. Designed by David Dale of GolfPlan, the 27-hole facility will open in the spring of 2012. Ideally located in the Gyeonggi Province, just one hour from Seoul and 45 minutes from the Incheon International Airport, the semi-private club will feature 18 holes solely dedicated to member play with an additional nine holes available to the public. With stunning views, endless shot options and new challenges around every corner, Island Country Club will provide an unforgettable golf experience that will surely place it among the ranks of “must-see and “must-play courses in Korea. “We are thrilled to be engaged in this project, stated Ryan Walls, senior vice president, managing director, Australia, Asia & Pacific division, Troon. The Kwon family and especially Chairman Kwon are truly wonderful to work with. They have vision and sincerely want the best for their members and guests. I believe David Dale has pulled off anther homerun in Korea to compliment his other work in the region, which will garner a lot of attention especially with Troon’s agronomy and maintenance standards. Island Country Club will work closely with other Troon projects in the region, such as Alpensia Resort, Pine Tree Luxury Condo & Spa and the Troon Golf Academy at Banyan Tree Club & Spa, Seoul. This synergy compliments membership plans and access of the other projects, ideally suited around the Seoul business community. This short drive from the city center and international airport will make Island Country Club an ideal meeting venue for both Korean and International businessmen. “We spent a lot of time reviewing our management plan and after a detailed due diligence process, we determined Troon was clearly the best suited to manage this facility, stated Chairman Kwon. With unmatched experience in Asia, marketing reach, and worldwide course availability for our prestigious membership, it was an easy decision in the end. We are excited to have Troon onboard to help us shape our future and position Island Country Club as a market leader in Korea. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz. with international offices in China, South Korea, Australia, Dubai and Switzerland, Troon is the world’s largest golf management company, overseeing operations at Troon Golf® (daily-fee & resort) and Troon Privé (private) properties located in more than 25 countries.
