Warringah Golf Club signs off on new $8.7 million clubhouse
Warringah Golf Club signs off on new $8.7 million clubhouse.
The new double-storey facility will replace the old clubhouse and has been billed as a facility for the whole community, it will feature a range of new and updated amenities, including:
- Pro shop
- administration offices
- A restaurant on the first floor seating up to 60 diners
- Ground floor sports Bar
- Outdoor garden lounge and a first-floor terrace overlooking the golf course.
This development has been years in the making and marks a significant step from the threat, back in 2017-18, when there was talk about reducing the golf course to nine holes.
Thankfully, the club successfully fought to maintain its full 18-hole course, and now, for the whole community’s benefit, things are heading to a new level with this beautiful new facility.
Scott Campbell, Warringah Golf Club president, is understandably delighted about what this means for the community. He believes the facility will become a “recreation destination” for the Northern Beaches.
“The new clubhouse will serve as a hub for the local community, providing a contemporary space that offers exceptional dining, event spaces, and all the amenities needed to make every visit a memorable one,” he said.
Designed to serve the wider community. The project is being built as a true “golf and community club” that will welcome everyone, from the dedicated golf crowd to tennis players using the adjacent recreation centre, or simply a local looking for a great place to dine out and relax.
The Northern Beaches council, which owns both the golf course and the club, made it a priority that the new clubhouse would welcome members, the general public, and other sporting groups.
Construction will begin in July, with the work expected to take around 12 months.
Prime Projects, whose managing director, Daniel Swinnerton, said the initiative promises to deliver “a top-tier clubhouse that will serve as a high-class asset for the club, its members and the local community for years to come.”
With the club now securing a 20-year lease for the full 18-hole course and the clubhouse, this development represents not just an investment in a building, but a long-term commitment to creating a vibrant community space that will enrich the North Manly area for decades.
Site Background
On February 25, 2020, Council agreed in principle to the proposal by Warringah Golf Club (the Club) to build a new clubhouse on the current Warringah Recreation Centre (WRC) site. We are pleased to confirm that the Club has recently received approval for Development Application (DA 2022/2081) to construct the clubhouse at the northern end of the WRC, located on Kentwell Road, North Manly. Following a public notification process earlier this year, Council granted a 3-year construction lease for the project.
Alongside this development, Council will be constructing new recreational tennis and squash facilities, as well as providing additional parking on the remaining area of Lot 3 (the current Warringah Recreation site). Council has secured over $3 million in State Government funding to support the rebuild of the WRC.
With the Club’s DA approval in place and the lease area now confirmed, Council intention to enter into a 20-year lease with the Club, resulted in a public consultation process from 2nd October 2024 to 31 October 2024.
