X-Golf hosts ‘X-League’, Aus/NZ’s largest tech-powered competitive league

POSTED ON February 8, 2025 @ 10:00 am

Australia and New Zealand’s golf scene is hitting aces, with the largest tech-powered competitive league in the Southern Hemisphere kicking off last month, X-League.

Likened to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL), X-League brings team gameplay to everyday golfers with simulator technology using high-definition cameras, lasers, impact sensors and infrared so that each shot is tracked with precision, from drive to putt.

With over 1,000 players annually, X-Golf co-founder Ben Styles says X-League was designed to bring competitive golf into the modern era.

“X-League’s sustained growth really speaks to players’ appetites for innovation,” Ben said.

“Unlike radar technology, X-Golf software guarantees fairness and realism which makes the experience extremely immersive. The sims don’t just replicate the game, they elevate it,” he said.

Transforming the way to play

For players like 58-year-old Russell Lucas, X-League has redefined what golf means to him, describing his new golfing experience as ‘transformative’.

“I’ve been playing golf for over 30 years, but X-League has brought a whole new dimension to the game. It’s relaxed, social and incredibly fun,” Russell said.

“The technology makes it feel like you’re on a real course, but without the long walks or unpredictable weather. Plus, it’s improved my short game immensely – my chipping and putting have never been better!”

Aussie brothers shaking up an age-old sport

Designed by X-Golf’s co-founders, brothers Charles and Ben Styles, X-League fuses progressive simulator technology with a lively team-based format where players can golf on some of the world’s most iconic courses like St Andrews Beach without leaving their local area.

“What sets us apart is our focus on the everyday golfer,” Ben said.

“X-League is about creating a space where anyone can experience the thrill of competition in a modern, social setting while removing hindrances of time, weather and even social barriers.”

Taking place across three 10-week seasons, X-League is made up of three-person teams playing 9-hole handicap matches.

X-League culminates in an annual national Championship where the best teams from across Australia and New Zealand battle it out for top honours.

The Championship has grown in prestige over the years and while details of the 2025 event are still under wraps, it promises to be the biggest yet.

X-League’s 2025 season is now underway across Australia and New Zealand. Visit https://www.xgolf.com.au/x-league/ for details.
