Mike Space’s Winter 2017
Welcome to our Winter 2017 edition of Golf Industry Central’s e-magazine. This issue counts as our 31st, with the first ever published in December 2009. I can’t believe it’s been that long! Thanks for all your support.

Now, with almost half the year already behind us we look forward to all the major events happening in our industry and around the country for the rest of 2017.
As many of you would already be aware, the 2017 GMA National Conference in Adelaide is nearing rapidly, kicking off with the somewhat unconventional event of the bicycle Chautauqua with Gregg Patterson on October 6. If you haven’t yet heard about this innovative educational ride, check out Gregg’s article in the magazine and get inspired – and moving.
As Golf Industry Central is the media partner for the conference and I am attending, I strongly encourage all managers and their staff to register for this year’s conference as it is predicted to be the biggest and best one yet. All you need to know is within this magazine.
Also in this winter issue, we cover the recent great news of golf being recommended for the Olympic Games in 2024. Hooray! Even though some might have their reservations about it being included due to last year’s debacle with some big names opting out on the men’s side, it is certainly a great opportunity for the sport to grow, especially as numbers are indicating positive junior progression in the aftermath of the event.
At Golf Industry Central we hope you’re enjoying the colder temperatures around the country – on and off the golf course – and that the wettest weather is now behind us to spare our courses from too heavy deluge. As always, we hope you will enjoy these articles as well as a course development update and various industry news from around the country.
Please feel free to drop me a line if you ever need any assistance on what you may be undertaking at your facility or business.
