Mike’s Space Summer 2018

POSTED ON November 29, 2018 @ 11:11 am

We’re now only a few short weeks away from Christmas (yikes) and on the very last stretch of 2018, which is a perfect time to reflect upon the year behind us and all the great events that have happened in the golf industry, nationally and globally. This magazine will give you a peek into some of the great conferences from around the region that I have been lucky enough to attend and present at over the last few months.

Of course, for my company, and my team, a highlight of this year was being awarded the Golf Supplier of the Year Award at the annual QLD Golf Industry Awards night in March on the Gold Coast. I’m very fortunate to have met so many great people who make up this industry. I always had hoped to make some kind of difference within the industry, and winning this award validated the endless hours of work, travel and vision I had of the company when I started it over ten years ago.

In July I had the great honour to once again host and promote our friends from America, Gregg Patterson and Norm Spitzig, and join them on their second Australian Roadshow “The Boys Are Back In Town” with topics to focus on Service, Culture and Participation. We shared the love and buzz to over 600 attendees through-out the entire roadshow.

July also saw the second Golf Business Forum take place in Melbourne, connecting 282 delegates from around the industry. GIC was a media partner for this fantastic event for the more commercial side of the golf industry. Well done to Guy and Andrew for their vision coming to life for this event. Read all about the events inside this mag

In this second half of the year I’ve yet again found myself very busy with heaps of travels to attend various workshops and conferences around the country, and overseas. Last month I flew over to Queenstown, NZ, as media partner for the GMANZ 8Th Biennial GMANZ Conference and BMI International Course. The speakers addressed some great topics, and I myself had the chance to say my piece in the new “Hack fest” session where we discussed sustainability, the environment, inclusion, diversity and equality.

Most recently I attended the 2018 PGA Conference in Laguna Phuket, Thailand (I’m still suffering the jet-lag). The 2 days of education featured expert speakers lined up to provide engaging sessions on topics designed to assist the PGA Member in their business and career. Get all the details inside.

Since this is our very last magazine of the year, Mathilda and I wish you all a very Merry and safe Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you all get to enjoy some great golf and time off during the holiday season.

We’ve got some new initiatives to roll out in 2019. We can’t wait!

Catch you all on the other side!
