Curlewis Golf Course to upgrade after $3.7m sale
CURLEWIS golf club has been sold to local business owners David and Lyndsay Sharp for $3.7 million, and is set to undergo an extensive transformation.
An overwhelming 78 per cent of Curlewis’ club members voted on Thursday night in favour of the trade that will see the duo take over the course on the 1st of July this year.
The new owners, who also own Flying Brick Cider, Leura Park Estate and Jack Rabbit Vineyard, have committed to a $1 million upgrade of the golf club and with the possibility of an accommodation development in the future.
Mr Sharp announced plans earlier in the week to immediately improve both the golf course and the clubhouse.
“We have made a sincere, serious commitment to Curlewis members and the local community and we intend to ensure that this wonderful community amenity is retained and enhanced as a premier 18-hole golf course,” Mr Sharp said.
“We invite current, former and potential members to join with us on an exciting journey into the future that we hope will set a new benchmark in regional golfing experience.”
Curlewis Golf Club president Peter Penning revealed that the management committee unanimously endorsed the deal before it was put to the members.
“This vote is one that is very positive for the club, providing it and the members with a bright future,” Mr Penning said.
The sale includes assets and real estate owned by the club.
