JOB: General Manager – Club Mandalay (Victoria)
Club Mandalay in Melbourne’s North is looking for a progressive, innovative and motivated General Manager to lead the next phase of growth of the integrated golf, fitness, leisure and hospitality facility. Club Mandalay is just 45 minutes north of the CBD and is located in the heart of one of the fastest growing corridors in Victoria and is the perfect blend of rural and city living. Club Mandalay is the jewel in the crown of the 2,000+ lot Mandalay Estate which is well established with over 70% of lots occupied.
The club
The Club’s facilities include an 18 hole Thomson Perrett designed golf course that is ranked inside the top 40 golf courses in Australia. The championship golf course is complimented by extensive clubhouse facilities that include a gym, pool, tennis courts, restaurant, café and function space.
Since opening five years ago, the golf course has become a favourite for members, pay for play and group play. The combination of quality playing surfaces, well presented facilities, great food and beverage and a positive, inclusive, and can-do attitude have all contributed to its early success.
The role
We are looking for a suitably qualified General Manager to steer the next phase of Club Mandalay’s evolution that will focus on driving the success of Membership and attracting pay for play and group golfers as well as continuing to foster the Mandalay Community.
The key responsibilities of the General Manager will include, but not be limited to:
- Drive the growth of Club Mandalay, with a particular focus on Membership, golf and hospitality;
- Work hand in hand with the key stakeholders that include Members, Golfers, Residents, the developer and the broader community;
- Lead a diverse workforce that works across maintenance, course, hospitality and leisure facilities;
- Work closely with the key advisory groups that have been developed to assist with fostering the Club and Golf membership.
- Continually look at ways to innovate the business and align the Club’s products and services to the current and evolving audience;
- Ensure that the products and services are delivered with a focus on quality, efficiency and a high level of customer service.
The successful candidate will work directly with, and report to the operator, Avid Sports and work closely with the developer.
The General Manager will possess the following attributes, skills and qualifications:
- Held a General Manager or Assistant General Manager position in a similar facility for at least 4 years;
- Excellent eye for detail and have a proven track record in delivering a high performing business;
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to work within budgets;
- Be well presented will great verbal and written communication skills;
- The ability to lead a team and grow a high performing, collaborative, and diverse work environment;
- Exceptional golf and hospitality knowledge and experience, with a focus on driving the desired outcomes;
- Be well organised and have a proven ability to lead a well organised, proactive and accountable team.
