About
Pinjarra Golf Club is an outstanding 18-hole golf course located in the Peel region of Western Australia, just southeast of Mandurah and has a very exciting future ahead. The course is highly regarded, with the greens consistently considered amongst the best in the State. The Club has approximately 460 members in playing membership categories and a very strong green fee support base, receiving over 15,000 green players per year.
The Board has set an objective and implemented many innovative membership packages to increase membership and to develop its facilities and operations to support growth and membership loyalty. The Club is focused on the future and has engaged Contour Golf Design to produce a golf course masterplan that will include improvements to our existing layout, a new clubhouse, mini-golf and a limited-flight driving range that will attract the next generations of golfers to our facility.
The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic PGA Member to lead and foster growth within our Golf Operations team. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and enjoy a hands-on approach to all facets of our Golf Operations activities. You will be required to exceed the expectations of our Members and Guests consistently, have a strong work ethic, work well within a team environment, be committed to ongoing improvement, and have excellent communication skills.
The successful applicant will report to the General Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Pro Shop, including but not limited to Pro Shop food & beverage facilities, the practice range, the motorised golf fleet, collecting green and member competition fees, and managing all competition events.
Essential Criteria
- Certified PGA Professional with extensive knowledge of the Rules of Golf, etiquette and equipment, delivering tuition and conducting club repairs.
- Have undertaken the Workplace Training Program so Associate Professionals can be indentured to you (imperative).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the golf retail industry.
- Previous experience in retailing (providing excellence in customer service) and store presentation/stock displays.
- Sound business acumen with commercial and financial competence.
- Skilled in club fitting and repair service.
- Excellent personal presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain and manage time sheets for members and guests.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Swiftpos, MiClub & Social Media systems.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol.
- Restricted Approved Manager Certification – ideal to have pre-acquired.
- A current National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
Duties and Responsibilities
Will include but not limited to;
- Present and operate a clean and tidy, appropriately stocked Pro Shop, providing expert advice, customer service excellence and timely club repair.
- Management of Proshop retail operations must be maintained to a profitable standard.
- Engaging with Members and guests, ensuring the Club is meeting and exceeding expectations of service and product delivery.
- Full accountability for golf operations, including tee times, social bookings, public visitors, practice range revenue and member golf.
- Course player management in conjunction with the Match Subcommittee Committee, to include speed of play and course usage analysis, and management of all conduct, dress, and etiquette standards.
- Planning, execution, and administration of all elements of all golf competitions, tournaments and corporate events as per the annual fixtures calendar.
- Ensure the Club’s processes and protocols are in keeping with current industry guidelines and WH&S requirements.
- Work closely with the General Manager and the Management Team / Board to develop and implement an annual business development strategy for the Club, which includes recruiting new members and retaining existing members.
- Develop strategies to maximise player yields for both competition and green fee players, and cart usage.
- Support the Club with the design of all member game improvement programs, including, but not limited to, juniors, women’s, seniors and beginners.
- Match Subcommittee attendance.
- Assist Membership Sales with Membership inquiries and new Member processes. Marketing and management of Corporate Golf Days and Open Events.
- Weekend work is an expectation.
- A successful candidate will be permitted to deliver as much tuition as they desire outside of their rostered hours of work.
- $80/20$ split after GST has been accounted for.
Remuneration
- Salary range: $85,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications within the Golf Industry.
- This is exclusive of superannuation and tuition delivered at Pinjarra Golf Club.
