Major $5.3 Million Private Overhaul Slated for Queens Park Golf Club

POSTED ON February 6, 2026 @ 12:12 pm

Queens Park Golf Club is teeing up for a massive transformation following the City of Greater Geelong’s announcement of a proposed $5.3 million redevelopment spearheaded by private investment.

During a council meeting last week, officials named Clublinks, a prominent national golf service provider, as the preferred tenderer for the facility. The decision marks a significant shift for the club, moving toward a long-term partnership aimed at modernizing the site.

The Investment Breakdown

The proposed $5.3 million injection is set to be distributed across three key areas of the facility:

  • Golf Course: $2.3 million for 18-hole improvements.
  • Clubhouse: $2 million for facility upgrades.
  • Driving Range: $1 million for modernization.

Cr Ron Nelson, who outlined the scale of the investment, emphasized that the funding is coming from the private sector rather than the public purse.

“What I like most about this tender is the investment in the site,” Cr Nelson said. “I’m sure when word gets out, the members down there will be absolutely ecstatic that finally some investment is coming to this course and this club.”

A 21-Year Vision

If contract negotiations are finalized, Clublinks will manage the site for the next 21 years. The company is already a familiar face at Queens Park, having served as the temporary operator since 2023.

Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj noted that the selection came after a “highly competitive” tender process.

“Their plans and commitment to facility improvements are great news,” Mayor Kontelj said. “This is an important next step in the process towards a better Queens Park Golf Club for everyone.”

Creating a “Vibrant” Future

For Clublinks, the long-term appointment is an opportunity to execute a broader vision for the Geelong golfing community. Clublinks Chief Executive Anthony Lawrence expressed enthusiasm for continuing the partnership with the city.

“Our vision is simple: create a vibrant, inclusive space where everyone can play, laugh, and connect,” Lawrence said.

While the tender has been awarded, the council noted that formal negotiations will take place over the coming months before the contract is finalized.
