Golf Business Australia – helping businesses succeed the fair-way

POSTED ON June 11, 2018 @ 12:05 pm

He fell into the insurance business by chance but into the golf industry by passion. Daniel Bateup, Founder and Managing Director of Golf Business Australia (GBA) seems to have found the successful recipe of combining business with pleasure while insuring the industry he loves.

A country kid turned successful insurance broker in the big city, Bateup has racked up years of experience advising business owners from a variety of industries on how to best protect their livelihood.

After a career as a semi-professional soccer player fell through in 2005, Bateup was introduced to the world of insurance where he went on to complete industry qualifications whilst working for a highly respected insurance broker.

In 2016 he decided to fine-tune his target and launched his own financial services company, Golf Business Australia, focusing on the golf industry. This venture stemmed from years advising and administrating golf clubs insurances before identifying a greater opportunity to service the wider golf business community.

“The passion that I have for the golf industry was born out of what I’ve received from the game in the past; the sport itself and what the industry offers,” Bateup said.

“I’m just a kid from the country who moved to the big smoke and found himself starting a business in the golf industry that provides insurance and finance solutions. I’m passionate about helping other golf businesses and people in the industry not too dissimilar to me,”

“I started Golf Business Australia because I saw an opportunity, but I also share many people’s passion for golf. Being able to combine my expertise and apply my qualifications to an industry that I love was a no-brainer.”

After recognising a lack of qualified advice, Bateup partnered with reputable insurance companies, developing programs to better protect golf clubs and golf businesses alike.

“Insurance can often leave people confused. Our goal at GBA is to simplify the insurance process, provide steadfast advice and bespoke products supported by unwavering after sales service.”

Recognised as the fastest growing golf industry insurance and finance provider in the country, GBA, an Official Licensee of the PGA of Australia, has worked with a variety of golf industry clients to develop cost-effective & broad coverage insurance solutions.

“The satisfaction from helping others achieve success in their golf business is what drives us.”

Not without its challenges however, Bateup is well aware of the fact it takes time to build a level of trust with business owners, general managers and club boards.

“To convince a business owner, general manager and/or a club board that what we are providing is an unbiased insurance solution, in their best interest, can sometimes be a challenge”

In addition to comprehensive insurance coverage, Golf Business Australia also provides a range of finance products to keep golf businesses on course with their bank balance including, but not limited to, equipment and business finance.

“We’re here to support and provide a service that allows businesses the opportunity to succeed in an industry where it has been in the past difficult,”

“If we can alleviate some of the pressure so people can get on with the task of running their business, we have done our job!”

Through industry knowledge and the implementation of proven strategies, Golf Business Australia proudly boosts working relationships with both emerging and established golf businesses. This year, the company is again a proud foundation sponsor of the 2018 Golf Business Forum kicking off in Melbourne at the end of July, and is preferred supplier to exciting golf businesses such as X-Golf.
