About Wynnum Golf Club
Founded in 1922, Wynnum Golf Club is a well-established and highly regarded private members’ club located in Brisbane’s bayside. The Club features an 18-hole championship course across 31 hectares, supported by a modern clubhouse offering hospitality, gaming (16 EGMs), events, and community functions. With a strong and engaged membership base of more than 1,200, Wynnum is entering an important phase of operational and cultural renewal.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager has full accountability for the leadership, performance, and sustainability of the Club.
This role requires a visible, decisive leader who can balance strong operational control with effective stakeholder management, while working constructively with an engaged Board and committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide whole-of-club leadership across golf operations, course maintenance, hospitality, gaming, events, and administration.
- Drive financial discipline, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a multi-disciplinary workforce across all departments
- Address legacy culture and performance issues while building a positive, professional workplace culture.
- Deliver a consistently high-quality member and guest experience.
- Implement practical marketing, membership retention, and growth initiatives.
- Support governance, strategy, and decision-making in partnership with the Board.
- Act as the Club’s Gaming Nominee and ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations (RMLV, RSA, RSG).
About You
You are a commercially astute and people-focused leader with demonstrated experience operating in complex, membership-based or licensed environments.
You will bring:
- Proven senior leadership experience as a General Manager, Club Manager, or Operations; Manager in a golf club, licensed venue, or similar organisation;
- Strong financial acumen, with direct accountability for P&L, budgets, and compliance;
- A calm, confident leadership style capable of managing long-tenured staff, volunteers, and diverse stakeholders;
- Experience working with Boards and Committees in a governance-driven environment;
- Operational depth across hospitality, gaming, facilities, and customer experience;
- Relevant qualifications in business, hospitality, or club management (preferred); and
- Current RMLV, RSA, and RSG certification, or willingness to obtain promptly.
