Finalists announced for 2025 Queensland Golf Industry Awards

The 2025 Queensland Golf Industry Awards will once again celebrate the breadth of talent and facilities within the state’s golf community, with Nudgee Golf Club leading the nominations across several key categories. The awards, a joint initiative of the PGA of Australia, Golf Australia, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Queensland, and Golf Management Australia, will recognize excellence and innovation over the past 12 months.

This year’s awards introduce two new categories: the Get into Golf Venue of the Year and the Women and Girls in Golf Award. These additions underscore Australian golf’s ongoing commitment to attracting new players and expanding the game’s reach.

Nudgee Golf Club is nominated in both new categories, highlighting its success in growing the game. The club is a finalist for Get Into Golf Venue of the Year alongside Bulimba Golf Club and Windaroo Lakes Golf Club, and a contender for the Women and Girls in Golf Award with Kingaroy Golf Club, Pacific Golf Club, and Townsville Golf Club.

Award Finalists Announced

The list of finalists showcases the diverse landscape of golf in Queensland, from large metropolitan clubs to smaller regional facilities and off-course venues. Finalists in each category are:

  • Most Outstanding Queensland Club, Facility or Place to Play (Metropolitan): Nudgee GC, Pacific Harbour G&CC, Sanctuary Cove G&CC, and Southport GC.
  • Most Outstanding Queensland Club, Facility or Place to Play (Regional): Dysart GC, Half Moon Bay GC, Kingaroy GC, Toowoomba GC, Townsville GC, and Tropics GC.
  • Most Outstanding Queensland Club, Facility or Place to Play (Off-Course): Drummond Golf / Fairways Golf Simulator and Bar (Mackay), The Tee Block, Victoria Park Golf Complex, and X-Golf South Bank.
  • Coach of the Year (High Performance): Dominic Azzopardi, Ji McBryde, Daniel Morrison, Ryan Mouque, Richard Woodhouse, and John Wright.
  • Coach of the Year (Game Development): Janine Barney, Glenn Domigan, Asha Flynn, Ryan Mouque, Jake Newbery, and John Wright.
  • Golf Club Staff Member of the Year: Tim Bray, Tamara Giles, Grant Green, Caitlin Hawkins, Chelsea Marr, and Ben Williams.
  • Junior Golf Program of the Year: A total of 12 clubs are nominated, including Bulimba GC, KDV Sport, Kingaroy GC, and The Brisbane GC.

Recognizing Industry Professionals

The awards also celebrate the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes to make the golf industry thrive. Finalists for professional categories include:

  • Distinguished Manager Award: Frank Byrne (Wolston Park GC), Gavin Pontin (Dalby GC), and Darren Richards (Nudgee GC).
  • PGA Management Professional of the Year: Mark Harrison, Tim Porter, Darren Richards, Wayne Rostron, Paul Sanders, and Scott Wagstaff.
  • Club Professional of the Year: Gavin Beck, Jamie Corkill, Chris Duke, Brenton Fowler, Lachlan Ritson, and Roger Vandenberg.
  • Golf Course Turf Apprentice of the Year: Nathan Baker, Dylan Bartlett, Shane Eastell, and Glenn O’Sullivan.
  • Superintendents’ Achievement Award: Peter Culross (Nudgee GC), John Halter, Matthew Hartup, Luke Helm, Mick Kelly, Stephen Milgate, Stuart Moore, and Brett Thomson.
  • Volunteer of the Year: John Dalton, Gary Ellis, Leanne Le Lievre, Bill Reilly, Allan Warry, and Georgina Weingarth.

Celebrating Tournaments and Individuals

The awards will also recognize outstanding Metropolitan, Regional, and Legends Tournaments of the Year, along with individual achievements. Awards for Services to Golf, Male and Female Amateur Golfer of the Year, and Junior Male and Female Amateur Golfer of the Year will be announced on the night.
