Queens Park Golf Club Names Clublinks As Preferred Operator
Queens Park Golf Club is set for a major transformation following the announcement that Clublinks has been selected as the preferred operator for the facility. The decision, reached during a Council meeting on Tuesday night, marks the beginning of a planned 21-year partnership aimed at revitalizing the local landmark.
The selection follows an extensive and highly competitive tender process. Contract negotiations between the City of Greater Geelong and Clublinks are expected to conclude over the coming months.
Major Upgrades on the Horizon
Clublinks has signaled its intent to invest heavily in the facility’s infrastructure to enhance the experience for both golfers and the broader community. Key areas identified for substantial improvement include:
- The 18-hole course: Structural and aesthetic enhancements to the playing field.
- The Clubhouse: Modernization of the central social hub.
- The Driving Range: Upgrades to practice facilities.
Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM expressed optimism about the club’s future, noting that the operator’s commitment to facility improvements is “great news” for the region. “This is an important next step in the process towards a better Queens Park Golf Club for everyone,” Mayor Kontelj said.
A Vision for Inclusivity
The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the City and Clublinks. Anthony Lawrence, CEO of Clublinks, emphasized that their goal extends beyond just technical golf improvements.
As negotiations commence, the community can expect further updates regarding the specific timelines and details of the revitalization project.
