Maleny Golf Club Set to Open Permanent $1.7 Million Clubhouse

POSTED ON May 6, 2026 @ 10:00 am

MALENY, QLD – Maleny Golf Club is preparing for the grand opening of its new $1.7 million clubhouse before the end of June. The facility replaces the temporary shipping container headquarters used by the club since its first nine holes opened in 2015.

The 483-square-metre building was constructed by Sunshine Coast builder Saltair Modular. The structure was prefabricated in seven modules and assembled over two days in late April using a 150-tonne crane. Final fit-out and landscaping are expected to take approximately six weeks.

Community-Led Investment

The project was made possible through a combination of bank finance and significant internal contributions. Members provided nearly $1 million in the form of donations and loans to fund the development.

Acting General Manager Doug Evans noted that the completion of the permanent headquarters marks a milestone driven by the membership’s “dogged determination and generous volunteer-spirit.”

“Our members have shown incredible patience and support over the last few years to enable us to deliver a modern, functional clubhouse which truly reflects the quality of our golf course and the depth of community support,” Mr. Evans said.

Strategic Vision and Facilities

The new clubhouse is designed to complement the club’s award-winning 18-hole course in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Beyond serving golfers, the facility includes a bookable meeting space for local residents, a requirement envisioned by the Sunshine Coast Council as the site’s lessor.

Mr. Evans credited the board and management team for delivering the complex project with “minimal disruption to members, patrons and day-to-day golf operations.”

“They’ve not only helped fund a new club house, but invested in a social space, a community hub and a legacy that will serve members, visitors and Maleny residents for many years to come,” he said.

Future Outlook

The club is currently planning a formal grand opening event. The new facility offers views overlooking the 18th green, providing a central social hub that the club believes will attract new players to the course.

“Plans are afoot for a grand opening and golfers will now have a perfect excuse to play the Maleny course – perhaps for the first time – and swap a few stories afterwards in style and comfort while taking in the splendid vista overlooking the 18th green,” Mr. Evans said.
