Riverside Oaks Golf Resort Marks 40 Years with Future Investment and Restoration Plans

SYDNEY, Australia — Riverside Oaks Golf Resort is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking four decades since its founding in 1986. Located 60 minutes from Sydney’s CBD in the Hawkesbury region of New South Wales, the resort has unveiled its future plans following multi-million dollar investments in course maintenance, clubhouse renovations, and infrastructure repairs.

Tournament History and Ownership Changes

Since opening, Riverside Oaks has hosted major Australian tournaments, including the Australian PGA Championship.

In 2009, the property was acquired by its current ownership group. Since the purchase, the group has invested tens of millions of dollars into redevelopment projects. A primary addition under this tenure was the construction of the Bob Harrison-designed Bungool Golf Course.

Flooding Impacts and Bungool Restoration Timeline

The resort has experienced repeated flooding in recent years. Major flood events in 2021 impacted the Bungool Golf Course, and subsequent flooding in 2022 damaged initial reconstruction efforts.

Following these setbacks, rebuilding plans have been reset. The resort expects to complete the restoration of the Bungool course to open for play in 2027.

Gangurru Course and Infrastructure Updates

While Bungool remains under repair, financial backing has continued for the resort’s original layout, the Gangurru Golf Course. Maintenance upgrades include a new fleet of Club Car golf carts and new Toro course machinery.

Broader infrastructure upgrades are scheduled to begin in October 2026 with the reconstruction of the resort’s entrance road to improve visitor access.

Clubhouse Expansion and Regional Growth

Phase 2 renovations are planned for the Riverside Oaks Resort Clubhouse to expand its capacity as a venue for weddings, corporate events, and conferences in Northwestern Sydney.

As urban expansion continues into western Sydney, the resort aims to expand its role in local tourism and regional investment.
