About Golf Australia
Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia. Our goal is to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grass roots through to elite golfers, to fans, volunteers and associated bodies. Our key responsibilities include ensuring clubs and facilities remain healthy, developing programs and opportunities to engage as many people as possible into the game, conducting events including the Australian Opens, and managing the Rules of Golf and the national handicap system.
About the Role
Golf Australia exists to grow the game of golf to maximise the benefits the sport provides to current and future golfers, golf facilities and the Australian community. This role supports the controllership function for the Australian business and ensures the internal control framework is well maintained.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager upholds compliance for both the external reporting requirements as well as the implementation and compliance with global financial policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities include
- Providing detailed fortnightly, monthly and quarterly reporting on segment, company, and business unit results and ensuring meaningful insights and recommendations are delivered
- Examining new or modified accounting standards, amendments to corporations’ law, accounting policy statements and implementing changes
- Preparing consolidated half year and year-end financial statutory accounts (as required)
- Managing the month-end process, balance sheet reconciliations, KPI reporting and financial commentary, both for corporate and associated entities
- Management of key revenue segments including affiliation fees & commercial revenue
- Reconciliation of grant revenue through to reporting and acquittal audits (where required)
- Ensuring the integrity of all systems, including the general ledger and payroll
- Managing compliance and reporting requirements to ATO and ASIC
- Ensure effective governance and controls are in place within the finance team
- Liaising with external auditors and advisors
- Assisting with the budget, forecasting and planning processes
- Calculating and reporting on FBT, GST and payroll tax
- Preparing reports and presentations as required on issues relating to performance and regulation
The position is a diverse and hands-on role and will provide leadership, mentoring and
guidance to the wider team.
Key Requirements
We are looking for an energetic and experienced Finance Manager that has:
- Degree in Accounting/Finance with minimum CA/CPA or equivalent
- Analytical and strategic thinking, identifying relationships between financial and non-financial variables with the ability to deliver a clear message
- Demonstrated experience handling and analysing complex, high volume data with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and presentation skills
- Experience in high standard financial reconciliation and reporting
