$2.5 million golf event could still tee off in Perth

Perth could still host Australia’s richest golf tournament next year.

Negotiations to hold a $2.5 million tournament in Perth looked to have reached a terminal stalemate in mid-May when the PGA of Australia refused to endorse a tournament backed by the state government and sports media and entertainment IMG and affiliated with the Asian Tour.

The PGA of Australia has an exclusive partnership with the rival OneAsia Tour.
 
But the parties involved have quietly continued negotiations during the past two months and WAtoday.com.au understands some of the original issues are approaching resolution.
