Sentosa, Singapore, October 8: Tour stars led by Anirban Lahiri and Thongchai Jaidee showed their support in the Asian Tour’s latest PR campaign focusing on the hashtag #whereitsAT.

Reigning Asian Tour number one Lahiri and Thongchai, the only man to win three Order of Merit crowns, are featured in a new series of video promos which include narratives and storylines that link directly to #whereitsAT.

Lahiri, a six-time Asian Tour winner, said: “The Asian Tour is where it all started for me. It is strange how quickly time flies. To grow with the Tour and see how the Tour grows is fantastic. There’s so much going on now in Asia as compared to last time. I’ve definitely benefited from it so I’m delighted to be part of this campaign.”

The main TV promo aptly titled ‘The Rallying Call’ was released last week and showcases Asian Tour players’ aspiration and attitude to excel while other videos promos are a ‘Monologue’ by Lahiri, ‘Taking Flight’, ‘A Moment in Time’, ‘The Next Generation’, ‘Social Media’ and ‘Shared Moments’.

Thongchai, who cut his professional teeth on the Asian Tour before going on to win 13 titles in Asia and four on European soil, believes players, fans and sponsors will relate to the new hashtag.

“I think #whereitsAT is a good hashtag and fans will enjoy using it on social media. I see the hashtag board on the golf course at the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich and it will be good for fans watching on television to join in the conversation,” said the Thai.

“I’m happy the Asian Tour invited me to join in this campaign. This is where I started my career and I will always support the Asian Tour,” he added.

India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar, who won his sixth Asian Tour title in Korea last week, was part of the video titled ‘Social Media’ and he believes the Tour is moving in the right direction in the new digital age.

“I think it is a great initiative. We have to make sure the Asian Tour continues to grow. It has been growing for so many years so we have to make sure we stay on the right path. It is a time when social media has taken over the world so we need the hashtag #whereitsAT to show the world this is the place to be,” he said.

Sri Lanka’s Mithun Perera said the new campaign will turn the spotlight on Asian Tour players and tournaments.

“It is a good PR campaign for people to follow us on the Asian Tour. It is a good thing for us because it will create more interest for fans. I think it will help promote the Asian Tour more and also the players,” said Mithun, who featured in ‘The Rallying Call’ promo.
