Asia Golf Tourism Convention Returns to Malaysia

POSTED ON August 17, 2019 @ 6:41 pm

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) will stage its ninth annual Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) in Malaysia next year.

It will be the first time the event has been held in Malaysia since the inaugural AGTC in 2012.

To take place from March 30-April 2, the venue for the AGTC 2020 Malaysia is the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in Selangor, some 35 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and 25 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city centre.

AGTC will begin with an evening Welcome Reception on March 30 with the business sessions on March 31 and April 1 and the Golf Tournament April 2.

“Tourism Malaysia was the first tourist board to join IAGTO in 1998 and we have worked together on many projects over the past two decades to help develop and promote golf tourism to the country,” said a spokesperson for IAGTO.

“We are very grateful once again to Tourism Malaysia for its support and for facilitating the return of AGTC to Malaysia during the high profile Visit Malaysia Year 2020,” added the spokesperson.

Sunway Resort is situated within the sprawling integrated destination of Sunway City which incorporates the Sunway Pyramid Mall and Sunway Lagoon theme park.

IAGTO members will have the option to stay at either the five-star Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa or the adjacent 4.5-star Sunway Pyramid Hotel.

The appointment sessions will take place in the Grand Lagoon Ballroom of the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa while the Opening Address, Speed-Networking and Golf Tourism Seminars will be in the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, everything accessible by foot from either hotel.

The state of Selangor surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya and is home to many of Malaysia most important golf courses for visiting golf travellers, including TPC Kuala Lumpur and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, both Golf Course Facility Members of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
