Grand Cambodian Appointment for British PGA Professional

POSTED ON March 30, 2020 @ 7:19 am

Alan Martin has been appointed as Golf General Manager for Grand Royal Golf & Resort, the latest business addition to the Chip Mong Group.

As a British PGA Professional, Martin has accumulated experience in St Andrews where he was employed at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa before relocating to Cambodia in 2015 where he was PGA Head Professional at the Faldo Design Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap.

With an increasing demand for the game in Cambodia, both locally and from the international golf tourism market, Chip Mong recently acquired Royal Cambodia, Phnom Penh Golf Club and Grand Phnom Penh Golf Club, with plans to redevelop the courses to complement its growing land division portfolio.

“Using our 10-year experience and expertise in property development and management, our ultimate aim is to change the face of this development land, creating a unique living experience to meet the rising demand for premium residential areas and entertainment facilities for our customers,” said Henry Leang, President, Chip Mong Land.

The Grand Phnom Penh Golf Club is located within the 260-hectare Grand Phnom Penh International City development, 10 kilometres from the downtown riverside area of Phnom Penh city centre, while Royal Cambodia, Phnom Penh Golf Club is more on the peaceful outskirts of the city. It is eight kilometres from Phnom Penh International Airport.

Martin said: “As part of our group mission, we are committed to producing and providing world-class products and services. We have a busy year ahead. Short-term we are striving for some ‘quick wins’, making improvement to the facilities on offer at both golf courses in addition to growing the team to maximise the customer experience.

“I am very excited to see the long-term improvements we can implement for our members and visiting golfers from around the world. I believe Phnom Penh will be the next ‘must visit’ golf destination.”

Last year Cambodia was voted ‘Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year’ in the IAGTO awards.
