JOB: General Manager – Mackay Golf Club
GENERAL MANAGER
A wonderful opportunity to lead a growing North Queensland Golf Club with your knowledge and experience.
THE CLUB
Mackay Golf Club was founded in 1925 and is situated in the in the northern suburbs of Mackay, the beautiful gateway to The Whitsundays. It is a strong community focussed club with an active supportive membership of over 800 golfers. Facilities include a well-presented, picturesque course, Clubhouse with course views, a Pro Shop, Bar, Bistro, separate function areas, catering for members, events, conferences, meetings and weddings.
THE ROLE
- The Board is seeking applications for the role of General Manager from suitable experienced candidates
- The Manager will have strong business management skills and be able to provide quality and cost-effective services to members and visitors
- Manage all employees as well as contractors and volunteers
- Manage the full operations of the clubhouse including bar facilities
- Coordinate with the yearly golf competition program for members and visitors
- Coordinate with the operation, care and management of the golf course
- Assist to prepare the annual budget and manage the club’s finances
- Implement marketing programs and activities which promote the Club to its members and the wider community
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills and the personal qualities to work with a diverse member base
- Oversee functions of golf course management, food and beverage, corporate and event sales,
- Develop and build relationships with club members and sponsors to enhance the development of golf in Mackay.
YOU WILL BRING TO THIS ROLE:
- Previous experience as a Hospitality Manager
- The ability to lead, train and motivate a team
- Good knowledge and experience of all operational areas of a Club/Venue
- A strong customer service focus
- Proven success marketing a venue
- Have strong computer skills (our club uses MiClub, MS Office and Swiftpos)
- Financial management and reporting experience
- A hands-on approach
- A knowledge of compliance and legislative issues relating to Registered Clubs
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors
- Hold or be able to attain current RSA and RCG Certificates
- Flexibility to work different hours and days as required
- A knowledge and understanding of golf would be an advantage but not essential
The role is supported in administration by admin person and an accounts person. The Course is managed by a Greens Superintendent and greens staff along with a range of welcomed volunteers.
