JOB: Golf Course Vegetation Manager – Commonwealth Golf Club
About:
The Commonwealth Golf Club is recognised as one of Melbourne’s premier Sandbelt courses and is now seeking applications for an enthusiastic Vegetation Manager to join our passionate course, maintenance team.
Commonwealth has recently commenced a significant course restoration project, which includes a focus on developing vegetation areas, in which the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in.
The successful applicant will have a comprehensive knowledge of native and weed species to the area, have the appropriate qualifications and take on a role managing and maintaining our significant and diverse areas of native vegetation. This is a hands-on role, working in a variety of weather conditions.
Daily staff meals and full uniforms are provided, alongside working in a supportive and team environment.
Personal attributes of the successful applicant must include a strong work ethic, a team player, attention to detail, good communication skills, and be the ability to follow OH&S systems.
Specifically, the main tasks will include;
- Planning and working with the Course Manager to maintain/develop vegetation areas, including maintenance of the clubhouse gardens areas
- Liaising with the Landscape Architect from time-to-time
- Supervise and manage controlled burns as required
- Select and apply herbicides to control weeds within vegetation areas
- Selecting and planting areas where required
- Make recommendations to the Course Manager to enhance the general appearance of all vegetation areas
- Work with small groups, including volunteer groups on vegetation projects
- Keep records of all works carried out, including chemicals applied and planting information
- On occasions, there may be a requirement to carry out general duties on the course
