Muirfield Golf Club is a traditional Members’ golf club, nestled in the Hills District of Sydney, at North Rocks. Known as one of Sydney’s friendliest golf clubs, Muirfield is not only an active golfing hub for the 1,000 strong playing membership, but also for the surrounding community.
Muirfield Golf Club is looking for an experienced and motivated Director of Golf to lead the golf operations of the Club. The Club is about to embark on an exciting development journey, which will see Muirfield transformed into a destination golf and community Club.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing the Clubs’ golf operations through the development stages and then into the new era of Muirfield.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Golf will fulfill the following qualities:
The Role
The Director of Golf will have a clear vision for customer service. They will be responsible for leading and managing the Club’s golf operations with respect to daily course activity, Member and visitor golf competitions and events, tuition, motorised cart fleet operations and the development of golf within the Club. The position will lead the Golf Shop team, as well as having the competency and capability to act as General Manager, when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Golf Shop team to provide excellent customer service.
- Administer the daily member competitions through effective timesheet management.
- Ensure daily processes and procedures are adhered to for business management and cash security.
- Fulfil Club operational policies and objectives, leading to an exceptional golfing experience for members and visitors.
- Staff rostering in line with the Club’s operational requirements.
- Each day provide a refreshed and organised Golf Shop for Members and visitors.
- Provide quality merchandise and equipment for sale or hire.
- Oversee the Junior Development program.
- Provide member golf and representative team tuition.
- Recommend policy or operational changes to enhance the golfing experience at the club.
- Attend Match Committee or other Club related committee meetings, as needed.
- Achieve budgeted targets through sales stimulation and promotion.
- Co-ordinate with Club staff to plan and deliver all F&B needs for social and corporate golf events.
- Liaise with the Course Superintendent to ensure the golf course is prepared for the week’s events.
Candidate Qualities:
- PGA accredited, ideally Certified and Advanced in one or more of the relevant ACE streams
- Experience working as a Director of Golf, or senior member of a Golf Shop
- Well presented with strong communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a motivated team
- Excellent customer service qualities
- An enthusiastic problem-solver
- Experience with stock control, budgeting, marketing, and merchandising, will be an advantage.
- An excellent understanding of the game of golf and the Australian handicapping system.
- Flexibility to work days and weekends, as needed.

Salary will be in-line with the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award, and negotiated depending on additional strengths being brought to the role.
